Multilingual evening celebrating Atlas’ 2nd anniversary

On January 16, 2026, we celebrated Atlas, impros du monde - Bruxelles' 2nd anniversary with a multilingual improv night at the Maison des Cultures de Saint-Gilles! Thank you for joining us and diving with us into the world of multilingual theatrical improvisation through two incredible shows!

In the first part of the evening, you attended the show “Scenes of Improvyglot”, performed by participants from the Improvyglot multilingual improvisation workshops. This fully improvised show, full of madness and everyday poetry, was inspired by words written by the audience on small pieces of paper at the entrance of the theatre. Thanks to your suggestions, we traveled through adventures blending English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, and Italian!

The words that inspired the stories and took us into many different worlds were proposed by you: forest (EN), mandil (ES), squash (EN), panettone (IT), awareness (EN), ballare (IT), calabaza (ES), sonne (DE), laughting (EN), football championship (EN), cucciolo (IT). Don’t know them all? Go check what they mean 😉

The show ended with a final scene under the following constraint: no two characters were allowed to speak the same language! In this scene, in addition to the other languages used throughout the show, there was Portuguese, Hungarian, Croatian, Arabic, Irish, and Greek!

In the second part of the evening, you attended a short version of “Babel Games”, the professional multilingual improvisation show in Brussels. Blending improvised games, language, gestures, and emotions, this show illustrates an understanding that goes beyond words. A multilingual tale in the desert, a dystopian musical comedy, a plane trip in Spanish and Moroccan Arabic, the murder of an eggshell, an adventure that changes language in de wasmachine, and a dance inspired by the word “Kilig,” which in Tagalog (Philippines) means a feeling of euphoria.

A unique moment of improvisation in French, English, Spanish, Dutch, and Moroccan Arabic with Laurie Andrieu, Dan Gelbard, Maïder Dechamps, and Khalid Benaouisse!

As you’ve probably understood, you don’t need to be a polyglot to enjoy multilingual improvisation. On the contrary, these shows remind us that beyond the languages we speak, we all have the ability to understand each other and laugh together.
