The first Brussels Week of Multilingualism took place from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 February 2026, on the initiative of the Brussels Council for Multilingualism and in collaboration with the Brussels-Capital Region.
Activities were organised throughout the week across the Brussels-Capital Region, culminating in a closing day at the Palais de la Bourse on 14 February.
For the occasion, Atlas, impros du monde – Brussels was also part of the programme with the improv show “Babel Games” at L’Amère à Boire Saint-Gilles on Thursday 12 February 2026, performed by Dan Gelbard, Laurie Andrieu, Khalid Benaouisse and Peggy Pexy Green.
In this show, the actors improvised several stories inspired by the audience in French, English, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Moroccan, as well as in silence and in an invented language.
Thanks to the inspirations they received, the performers took you on a series of funny stories: an “umbrella” that allows you to fly, an epic quest in search of the καζανακίου ("toilet flush button" in Greek), an adventure driven by the song "Gitana hechicera" in Catalan, a multilingual love story on a climbing wall, a strange Italian/Moroccan duo in a casino, a "goesting" story ("craving" in Dutch) and even a multilingual musical in a retirement home!
We were present at the Bourse on Saturday 14 February with a stand showcasing our activities related to improv theatre, interculturality and multilingualism.
In short, all across Brussels there was a flourishing array of activities to open up to multilingualism and interculturality, in many different places and in many different ways!
